Animation and motion graphics are everywhere. They’re used in digital billboard advertising, websites, social media posts, videos, video games, TV shows and even smart devices.
They can help make software menus more intuitive and user friendly. They can explain complex subjects in a clear and visually pleasing way. They can create marketing content in quick and cost effective manner.
Like all video, it’s excellent for engaging and converting audiences. A video is 1200% more likely to be shared compared to a static image and text post. A video on a landing page can increase conversion rates by 80% or more.
My Services
High-end animation requires significant skill and time to produce. As a result, a three-minute animated video can easily cost in excess of £10,000.
My services cater for clients with smaller budgets that require simple but professional 2D motion graphics based work.
Here are some examples of how motion graphics can elevate your marketing communications:
Explainer Videos
As the name suggests, these videos help explain an organisation, its services or its products. Their goal is to concisely communicate messages in an informative, ‘non-selly’ manner.
Explainer videos can look quite different though, some may use abstract shapes, others dynamic text or some may follow a story, featuring characters.
Using a design that matches the organisations branding, they are an excellent addition to a website homepage.
Logo Animation
With more and more companies producing video content, creating a custom logo opening animation can help both unify your content and increase brand recognition. Logo animations also provide extra dynamism to your branding.
Product Videos
Most company promos are filmed. This works well for a manufacturing plant with lots of visually interesting scenery, but perhaps not so much for an office based professional services company, such as a firm of solicitors.
Using a mixture of photos, abstract animation and voiceover, I can produce compelling promo video that communicates your mission, solutions, emotions and brand identity without a videographer getting in the way of you and your spreadsheet.
Infographics/Data Visualisation
Static infographic images are a popular type of social post. When we apply subtle or exaggerated movement, we can help make these graphics even more engaging.
By converting infographics into video, it also allows for music, sound effects and/or voiceover to be added. Leveraging both sight and sound, complex topics can be explained with ease.
Animated Testimonials
Building brand trust with your audience is vital. Testimonial posts are an excellent form of authentic content that helps achieve this.
As video is more likely to engage than just text alone, creating animated testimonial videos elevates the prominence and value of these client recommendations.
Social Posts
Graphic based social posts tend to attract more attention and engagement compared to text alone.
By adding movement to these static images, we can help messages stand out further on people’s feeds.
Motion graphics can be used to present industry news, statistics, company achievements, testimonials, offers and more.
I can animate static designs you’ve already created or create them from scratch.
Branded Templates
It has become more common for staff to publish their own content on company social channels. It offers two benefits: firstly, visitors are more likely to engage with a person than a brand and second, companies gain exposure from a wider combined network. While authentic content is a good thing, poorly recorded or presented content can have a negative impact on brand perception.
I can offer production support services for your user generated content (UGC) output. For example, audio can be cleaned and enhanced for maximum clarity, graphic templates built for consistent branding and captions added for accessibility.
Benefits of Animation and Motion Graphics Video
Animation and motion graphics offer a number of advantages over traditional filmed content:
Control
Cost
Animation gives full control over the visual information presented to the viewer. We can use striking colors to grab attention, or adopt an organizations’ color palette to reinforce brand identity.
This control is particularly useful when making learning content. If we want to make a complex topic easy to understand, we can simplify the visual information by limiting the amount of objects, images, shapes or characters on screen.
Producing 3D animation (think modern Pixar) and traditional hand-drawn illustration (think classic Disney) requires significant skill, time and resources to accomplish. Traditional filming can have similar time and cost constraints when you factor in booking studios, actors, film crews, post-production, etc. In comparison, motion graphic productions can be quicker to produce, require less resources and are generally cheaper (dependant on the complexity of project).
Customisation
Creativity
You invested in a company video to be filmed at your office, but six months later, the company branding has changed. Problem is, the staff featured in the video are still wearing the old-branded uniforms.
Motion graphics are a lot more forgiving to such changes. Need to update brand colours? Simple. Switch out the logo? Easy. Need a new scene inserted? Done. Animated videos offer greater longevity and value for money.
Unless you have an infinite budget for props and special effects, filming can constrain the imagination. With brands constantly vying to attract attention and engage viewers, imagination, creativity and uniqueness are vital elements in helping your content ‘stand out’. Motion graphics makes the impossible, possible. Need a scene set in space? Not a problem. A dancing dog? Yes, and it will be way better than what you see on Britain’s Got Talent!
Supporting Skills
Excellent content isn’t just about the execution. It’s underpinned by knowing your audience and generating excellent ideas which resonate with them. My animation and motion graphics services are supported by a number of related skills:
Digital Marketing
Copywriting
Voiceover
As I frequently produce marketing content, I have completed a Level 2 qualification in Digital Marketing. This has given me a stronger understanding of the challenges marketers face, how marketing strategies are formulated and ways in which my work can support the function in achieving marketing objectives.
Across a 20-year career, I have written many marketing scripts for ‘spoken word’ based productions. These include radio commercials and telephone audio, through to explainer videos and corporate promos. I have also written comedy sketches for BBC Radio Devon. I can create scripts from a brief or work with your team to structure, refine and enhance existing text.
As an experienced Voiceover Artist working with clients such as Google, I can add a professional voiceover to your motion graphics project as part of the cost. If you wish to use a different voice (no offense taken!), I can help source one using my network of industry contacts (separate charges will apply).
Audio Production
Video Production
Sound is often overlooked when producing visual content. However, a well mixed soundtrack can often take a production from good to great. With 20 years audio production experience, I can design soundtracks which grab the viewer’s attention and reinforce your message.
I also work with traditional filmed media, regularly editing training and video podcast content. Tasks I undertake include colour correction, syncing camera footage, cleaning up poor audio, addition captions, re-framing and re-sizing for different social platforms.
